Solar Orbiter

Quick access to tools for Solar Orbiter / SCM&MAG merged magnetic field data:

SOLAR ORBITER is a European Space Agency mission launched in 2020.   The LPC2E is responsible for the fabrication and operation of the Search Coil Magnetomer (SCM), which is part of the RPW experiment led by the LIRA (Obs de Paris, France).  LPC2E is also Co-PI of RPW. SCM is a tri-axis « search-coil » sensor that measures the magnetic field from 5 Hz to 100 kHz, as well as from 10 kHz to 500 kHz on one of the three axes.

LPC2E has developed in collaboration with Imperial College London the merged magnetic field that covers frequency from DC to 4096 Hz. This official data product is available from the Solar orbiter Archiver as level 3 cdf files. A python script to read and plot the merged magnetic field files is available here. The inflight noise of the merged data product is available here.
