Congratulations to Alexander Nies on obtaining her PhD!

On December 4, 2024, Alexander Nies brilliantly defended her thesis entitled High-Temperature chemical kinetics at the magma-atmosphere interface: Impacts on the fate of halogens, reduced gases, and mercury in volcanic plumes”, well done!

His PhD is about the atmospheric proceses that occur in a volcanic plume, from the hot crater to the dispersed wind-blown plume. The project includes a combination of analysis of observational data and numerical modeling of the plume chemistry and field-work on an active volcano
